4:30 AM – HOTEL PICKUP IN CUSCO
Your Waqrapukara Trek begins at approximately 4:30 AM with pickup from your hotel in Cusco. Once the group is ready, we will travel south through the beautiful Andean countryside toward the starting point of our adventure.
The early departure allows us to enjoy a full day in the mountains and reach Waqrapukara with enough time to explore the archaeological complex.
BREAKFAST
During the journey, we will stop at a local restaurant for breakfast. This is an opportunity to enjoy a meal and prepare for the hike ahead.
After breakfast, we continue by tourist transportation toward the trailhead.
ARRIVAL AT THE TRAILHEAD & START OF THE HIKE
Upon arrival at the starting point, your professional guide will provide a short briefing about the route, weather conditions, altitude, and important recommendations for the hike.
We then begin the Waqrapukara Trek, walking through beautiful high-Andean landscapes surrounded by mountains, grasslands, valleys, rock formations, and remote scenery.
Along the route, you may see alpacas, llamas, and native Andean wildlife while enjoying panoramic views of this impressive region.
HIKE TO WAQRAPUKARA
As we continue along the trail, the landscape becomes increasingly dramatic, with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and canyon.
The hike provides excellent opportunities for photography and allows you to experience a peaceful area of the Cusco region away from the busiest tourist routes.
Eventually, the impressive formations of Waqrapukara appear in the distance, creating one of the most memorable views of the day.
WAQRAPUKARA ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE – GUIDED TOUR
Upon reaching Waqrapukara, located at approximately 4,140 meters (13,583 feet) above sea level, we will take time to rest and enjoy the extraordinary scenery.
Your professional guide will then lead you through the archaeological complex, explaining its history, architecture, ceremonial areas, terraces, stone structures, and cultural importance.
You will learn about the pre-Inca origins of the site, its later connection with the Inca civilization, and the different theories surrounding its historical and ceremonial functions.
You will also have free time to take photographs and enjoy the impressive views over the surrounding canyon and Andean landscape.
RETURN HIKE
After exploring Waqrapukara, we begin our hike back through the high-Andean landscape toward our transportation.

After completing the hike, we will travel to a local restaurant where a lunch will be waiting for us.

RETURN TO CUSCO
After lunch, we begin our return journey to Cusco by tourist transportation.
Sit back and enjoy the changing Andean landscapes as we make our way back toward the city.
ARRIVAL IN CUSCO – END OF THE TOUR
We arrive back in Cusco in the early evening, marking the end of your Waqrapukara Trek Full-Day Tour.
After a full day of hiking, archaeology, culture, and spectacular mountain scenery, our transportation will drop you off in or near Cusco’s historic center.
