We did the 5 day Salkantay Trek with Machu Picchu Team. Our guide Amoroso was the best. Super chill guy, very fun to be around and he just made the whole Salkantay experience feel complete. Overall good experience and organisation by Machu Picchu Team, would recommend.

We did the 5 days salkantay trek. Our guide Amoroso was the best. He was really patient with us and made this experience unforgettable!! He explained everything really well and made us feel included even if we were always last. The trek was amazing but be prepared for night one to be really really cold. We can only recommend doing this trek with Machu Picchu Team.

Peru Tours Planning Guide

Everything you need to plan your Peru Tours: routes between regions, altitude, best season, what to pack and how to book.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I combine Peru Tours with Cusco?

A classic route is Lima, then Cusco and Machu Picchu, then Lake Titicaca by bus or flight. Arequipa and Colca fit well between Cusco and Puno or Lima.

Which tours are at high altitude?

Lake Titicaca (3,800 m), Colca Canyon and Uyuni are high. Lima, Nazca and Huacachina are at sea level.

Is the Nazca flight included?

It depends on the tour. Check the Included and Not Included section of the Nazca Lines Tour before booking.

Do I need a visa for Uyuni?

It depends on your nationality. Check Bolivian entry requirements before booking the Uyuni Salt Flats tour.

When is the best time to travel?

Most Peru Tours run all year. The Andes are drier from April to October; the coast is sunniest from December to April.

Can I book only one tour?

Yes. Every tour can be booked on its own or combined in a custom itinerary.

Start in Lima with the Lima City Tour or the Lima Gastronomic Tour. Head south to fly over the Nazca Lines and ride the dunes of Huacachina, or to Arequipa for the Colca Canyon and its condors. In the Andes, visit the Uros and Taquile islands on Lake Titicaca, and in the north, hike to Gocta Waterfall. Crossing to Bolivia, the Uyuni Salt Flats 3 Days complete the journey.

Choose day tours if you are passing through, or multi-day trips such as the Lake Titicaca 2 Days or the Colca Canyon Trek for a deeper experience.

What to Bring

Original passport.

Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat (strong sun on the coast and in the Andes).

Warm layers for Titicaca, Colca and Uyuni.

Light clothes for Lima, Nazca and Huacachina.

Comfortable walking shoes.

Small daypack and cash in soles.

Preparation

Plan your route by region to avoid long trips.

Acclimatize in Cusco or Arequipa before Titicaca, Colca and Uyuni.

Confirm pickup times and meeting points the day before each tour.

Tell us about any diet or medical condition.

Availability

Most Peru Tours run daily all year. Book ahead for holidays and high season, from May to October.

Check availability for your dates on WhatsApp or at info@machupicchuteam.com.
