On Day 1 we meet you in Puerto Maldonado and travel by road and boat to our lodge on the Tambopata River, with an introductory rainforest walk. On Day 2 we visit the Chuncho Clay Lick at dawn and join a night walk after dinner.

On Day 3 we walk 3 km to Sandoval Lake and explore it by canoe, and on Day 4 the Tambopata Monkey Island tour takes us by boat to look for capuchin and squirrel monkeys before returning to Puerto Maldonado. Wildlife sightings can’t be guaranteed, as all animals live freely.

Before sunrise a motorized boat takes us to the Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick. From the observation area we watch macaws and parrots gather to eat the mineral-rich clay, with a camping-style breakfast.

We return to the lodge for lunch and rest, join an afternoon jungle activity and, after dinner, a night walk to look for frogs, insects and nocturnal wildlife.

Night 2: Jungle Lodge in Tambopata

Rest after an early start.

Jungle Lodge → 3 km Walk → Sandoval Lake → Lodge near Sandoval Lake

After breakfast we walk about 3 km through the rainforest (it can be muddy) to Sandoval Lake, and explore it by paddle canoe, looking for giant river otters, caimans, monkeys and tropical birds.

We walk back to the river for lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon there is an optional activity, and we spend the night near Sandoval Lake.

Night 3: Jungle Lodge near Sandoval Lake

Your last night in the rainforest.

Lodge → Monkey Island → Puerto Maldonado

After breakfast a motorized boat takes us to Monkey Island, where a guided walk lets us look for capuchin and squirrel monkeys.

We return by boat, have lunch (depending on your departure time) and transfer to the Puerto Maldonado airport, bus terminal or your hotel.
