Your tour begins with an early-morning pick-up from your hotel or accommodation in Cusco between 3:45 AM and 4:15 AM. The exact time will be confirmed one day before the tour and may vary according to your hotel’s location and the train schedule assigned to your reservation. A Machu Picchu Team vehicle will take you through the Andes to the Ollantaytambo train station. The drive takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, depending on traffic and road conditions.

6:10 or 6:40 AM: Train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes
Upon arrival at Ollantaytambo station, our driver will help you locate the correct boarding area and confirm the train details shown on your ticket. The train journey to Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo, takes approximately 1.5 hours. During the trip, you will travel alongside the Urubamba River and enjoy impressive views of mountains, agricultural fields, traditional communities, and the changing landscapes of the Sacred Valley.
Train departure times are generally around 6:10 AM or 6:40 AM, depending on availability and the schedule confirmed for your booking.
Arrival in Aguas Calientes and Meeting with Your Guide
When you arrive at the Aguas Calientes train station, your professional guide will be waiting with a sign displaying Machu Picchu Team or your name. The guide will provide a short briefing with the most important instructions for the visit, including the bus departure point, entrance procedures, prohibited items, the assigned Machu Picchu circuit, and the approximate schedule for the day.
Depending on the confirmed entrance time, you may have approximately 20 to 30 minutes to use the restroom, purchase water or snacks, or prepare for the visit.
Bus from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu
From Aguas Calientes, you will board the official bus to the entrance of Machu Picchu. The journey takes approximately 25 to 30 minutes along a winding mountain road surrounded by cloud-forest vegetation. Arrival at Machu Picchu is generally scheduled between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM, depending on the assigned train, bus queues, and entrance time. Your guide will assist you throughout the boarding and entrance process.
Guided Tour of Machu Picchu
Your Machu Picchu entrance ticket is included according to the circuit confirmed in your reservation. We prioritize the most complete available circuit that offers important panoramic views and access to the principal archaeological sectors. However, the specific route depends on government availability at the time of booking. Your final confirmation will clearly indicate the circuit included in your tour. During the guided visit, your licensed professional guide will explain the history, architecture, engineering, religious importance, and daily life of the Inca civilization. Depending on the assigned circuit, you may visit or observe:
- Agricultural terraces
- Ceremonial areas
- Residential sectors
- Important temples
- Stone structures and water channels
- Panoramic viewpoints
- Principal archaeological areas permitted by your ticket
The guided tour generally lasts approximately 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on the circuit, visitor flow, and regulations in effect on the date of your visit. There will also be opportunities to take photographs from the authorized viewpoints along the route. Visitors must follow the established one-way circuit and the instructions of the guide and archaeological-site staff.
Return Bus to Aguas Calientes
After completing the guided tour, you will exit the archaeological site and take the bus back to Aguas Calientes. The descent takes approximately 25 to 30 minutes, although waiting times may vary depending on the number of visitors. Once in town, you will have free time before your return train. You may enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, explore the artisan market, purchase souvenirs, or walk through the main streets of Machu Picchu Pueblo. Lunch is not included unless specifically stated in your booking confirmation.
2:30 or 3:20 PM: Return Train to Ollantaytambo
Your return train will depart from Aguas Calientes at approximately 2:30 PM or 3:20 PM, depending on availability and the schedule assigned to your reservation. You must arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before departure and present your original passport together with the train ticket.
The journey back to Ollantaytambo takes approximately 1.5 hours, following the same scenic route through the mountains and Sacred Valley.
Transfer from Ollantaytambo to Cusco
Upon arrival at Ollantaytambo station, a Machu Picchu Team driver will be waiting with a sign displaying your name. You will then continue by tourist transportation to Cusco. The return journey takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Arrival in Cusco is expected between 6:30 PM and 7:00 PM. Drop-off will be provided at your hotel or at the location confirmed in your reservation.

You may visit the Machu Picchu Team office, located at Portal Nuevo 270, Plaza Regocijo, Cusco, in the historic center. Our office is open daily from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM. If you are unable to visit us in person, one of our travel agents will contact you by WhatsApp or email to confirm your pick-up time, train schedule, Machu Picchu entrance time, assigned circuit, meeting instructions, and other important details for the trip.
Private Transportation to Ollantaytambo Train Station
Private transportation from your hotel in Cusco to the Ollantaytambo train station is included. The drive takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, depending on traffic and road conditions. Pick-up may also be arranged from selected locations in the Sacred Valley, including Ollantaytambo, Urubamba, Pisac, or Calca. Travelers staying outside Cusco must contact us in advance so we can confirm the most convenient pick-up time and location.
Train Ticket to Aguas Calientes
The tour includes a one-way train ticket from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, also known as Machu Picchu Pueblo. Depending on availability, the train may be:
- Expedition train at approximately 6:10 AM
- Voyager train at approximately 6:40 AM
The train journey takes approximately 1.5 hours and follows a scenic route through the Sacred Valley and alongside the Urubamba River. Train company and departure time are subject to availability at the time of booking.
Bus Ticket from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu

We prioritize the most complete available route with important panoramic and archaeological views. The entrance is usually scheduled for approximately 9:00 AM or 10:00 AM, depending on ticket availability, train schedules, and government regulations. The exact circuit and entrance time will be clearly stated in your booking confirmation.
Professional Guided Tour of Machu Picchu
A licensed professional guide who speaks English and Spanish will accompany you during the visit to Machu Picchu. The guided tour generally lasts approximately 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on the assigned circuit and visitor flow. Your guide will explain the history, architecture, engineering, religious importance, and cultural significance of the Inca citadel. The visit may include panoramic viewpoints, agricultural terraces, temples, ceremonial spaces, residential sectors, and other areas permitted by your assigned ticket.
Return Bus to Aguas Calientes
After completing the guided visit, the tour includes the official bus ticket from Machu Picchu back to Aguas Calientes. The downhill journey takes approximately 25 to 30 minutes. Once in town, you will have free time to rest, explore the artisan market, purchase souvenirs, or enjoy lunch before boarding the return train.
Return Train to Ollantaytambo
The tour includes a return train ticket from Aguas Calientes to Ollantaytambo. Depending on availability and your Machu Picchu entrance time, the train may depart at approximately:
- 2:30 PM on the Voyager service
- 2:50 PM or 3:30 PM on the Expedition service
The exact return train time will be confirmed in your final reservation details.
Private Transportation Back to Your Hotel
Upon arrival at Ollantaytambo station, a Machu Picchu Team driver will be waiting with a sign displaying your name or the Machu Picchu Team logo. Private transportation back to your hotel in Cusco is included. The journey takes approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, depending on traffic and road conditions. Drop-off in the Sacred Valley may also be arranged upon prior request. Please inform us before the tour so we can confirm the location and coordinate the return service correctly.
Free Luggage Storage at Our Cusco Office
Travelers booking the Machu Picchu Full Day Tour by Train from Cusco may store their main luggage free of charge at the Machu Picchu Team office before departure. This service is especially useful because train companies generally allow only a small carry-on bag or backpack, while large suitcases may not be accepted on board.
The luggage storage service is available during office hours, from 4:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Please make sure your bags are properly closed and clearly identified with your name. Valuable items, passports, cash, jewelry, electronic devices, and important documents should remain with you at all times, as these items should not be placed inside stored luggage.

Breakfast
Breakfast is not included in the tour price. Because the tour begins very early in the morning, we recommend requesting a box breakfast from your hotel the night before or carrying a light meal for the journey. Suitable options include fruit, a sandwich, energy bars, cookies, or other easy-to-carry snacks. Coffee, hot drinks, and simple breakfast items may also be available for purchase at or near the Ollantaytambo train station, depending on the opening hours of local businesses.
Lunch
Lunch is not included. After completing your guided visit to Machu Picchu and returning by bus to Aguas Calientes, you will have free time to choose a restaurant and enjoy lunch before boarding your return train. Aguas Calientes offers a wide selection of local and international restaurants, including Peruvian, vegetarian, vegan, and other dietary options. Meal prices vary according to the restaurant and menu selected. We recommend confirming your train departure time with the guide before ordering lunch so that you arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before departure.
Additional Food and Beverages
Snacks, bottled water, soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, and other personal food purchases are not included unless specifically stated in your booking confirmation. We recommend carrying a reusable water bottle and a small amount of cash in Peruvian soles for personal expenses.

STEPS TO BOOK THE MACHU PICCHU TOUR FULL DAY BY TRAIN FROM CUSCO
- Step 1:
Click the “BOOK ONLINE” button to check availability. You’ll be taken to the calendar and our booking platform. If your desired date is available, select it and proceed with your reservation. - Step 2:
Once you choose your date, you’ll be asked to select your return option (by car or by train), the number of participants, and the type of traveler (adult, student, or child). Then, you can choose whether to pay only the $180 deposit per person (non-refundable) or the full amount. Either option is available. - Step 3:
Next, fill out the personal information form for each participant, including: full name, passport number, WhatsApp number, hotel in Cusco, and more. - Step 4:
After that, you’ll be able to add optional extras if you wish, such Vistadome Train Upgrade, or entry to Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain. Once you’ve selected any extras, continue to the next step. - Step 5:
Finally, you’ll be directed to the payment form. You can pay with any debit or credit card, and in some countries, bank transfers are also available. Payments by card include a 2.9% transaction fee, which is covered by the client. - Once your payment is completed, you’ll automatically receive a payment confirmation email. Within 24 hours, we’ll send you the final tour confirmation, including all details and your Machu Picchu entry tickets and train tickets, if applicable.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR BOOKING
To confirm your Machu Picchu tour reservation, a non-refundable deposit of $180 USD per person is required. This amount secures your spot on the tour and is used to purchase your Machu Picchu entrance tickets and Train tickets
Cancellations:
- If you decide to cancel your tour, the deposit will not be refunded. However, any tickets already purchased (such as the Machu Picchu entrance) can still be used by you on the original date for which they were issued, as tickets cannot be changed or refunded.
- If you paid the full amount for the tour and later cancel, you will receive a refund of the remaining balance, excluding the $180 USD deposit.
Date Changes:
- You may change your tour date as long as there is availability. Please note that new Machu Picchu and train tickets will need to be purchased for the new date, and you will be required to pay a new deposit of $180 USD per person to cover these additional costs.
Remaining Balance Payment:
- If you only paid the deposit, the remaining balance must be paid at least 24 hours before the tour starts. You can pay through:

- Card payments are also accepted, with an additional 3.9% processing fee
