TRIP ITINERARY

FULL DAY TOUR:

Puno Hotel Pick-Up → Uros Floating Islands → Taquile Island → Return to Puno

7:15 AM – Hotel Pick-Up in Puno

We begin the day by picking up travelers from hotels located in downtown Puno. After gathering the group, we transfer to the main port of Lake Titicaca to board our tourist boat.

7:30 AM – Boat Departure to the Uros Floating Islands

Our boat departs from Puno and begins the journey across Lake Titicaca toward the famous Uros Floating Islands.

During the visit, you will learn how these remarkable artificial islands are traditionally constructed using totora reeds and discover how local families have adapted their daily lives to the unique environment of the lake. You will have time to interact with local residents, learn about their traditions, homes, handicrafts, and way of life.

11:00 AM – Arrival at Taquile Island

We arrive at the dock of Taquile Island, where we begin a scenic walk toward the community area.

Along the way, you can enjoy impressive panoramic views of Lake Titicaca and the surrounding Andean landscape. Once we reach the community, we will spend approximately 1.5 hours learning about the traditions of the island, including its internationally recognized textile culture.

You will meet local families, observe traditional weaving techniques, learn about the meaning of different textile designs and traditional clothing, and discover more about the daily life and social customs of the people of Taquile.

12:30 PM – Traditional Lunch on Taquile Island

Enjoy a traditional lunch while surrounded by the peaceful landscapes of Taquile Island and Lake Titicaca. This is also an opportunity to relax and experience the atmosphere of one of the lake’s most culturally important communities.

1:30 PM – Walk Back to the Taquile Dock

After lunch and the cultural visit, we begin walking back toward the main dock of Taquile Island, enjoying more beautiful views along the way.

2:30 PM – Boat Departure from Taquile to Puno

We board our boat and begin the return journey across Lake Titicaca toward the city of Puno.

Professional Bilingual Tour Guide

The tour includes the services of a professional bilingual guide who will accompany the group throughout the experience. Your guide will provide information about Lake Titicaca, the Uros Floating Islands, Taquile Island, local traditions, history, culture, and the daily life of the communities you visit.

Safety and Emergency Support

Your safety is an important part of our operation. Not Included

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is not included in the Lake Titicaca Full-Day Tour. We strongly recommend that all travelers have appropriate travel insurance covering medical assistance, accidents, trip interruptions, lost or damaged belongings, and other unexpected situations that may occur during their journey in Peru.

Personal and Additional Expenses

Any personal or additional expenses not specifically listed in the tour inclusions are not included in the package price. This may include snacks, bottled drinks, souvenirs, handicrafts, optional activities, tips, personal purchases, or other services requested during the tour. We recommend carrying a small amount of cash in Peruvian soles, as some local communities and small vendors may not accept credit or debit cards.

What to Pack

What to Wear & What to Pack in Your Daypack – Lake Titicaca Tour

Lake Titicaca is located at high altitude, where temperatures can change considerably throughout the day. Mornings can be cold, the sun can feel very strong during the day, and wind is common while navigating between the islands. For this reason, we recommend dressing in comfortable layers that you can easily add or remove depending on the weather.

What to Wear

Wear comfortable walking clothes suitable for a full day of sightseeing and light hiking. A T-shirt or breathable base layer combined with a warm fleece or sweater and a windproof or waterproof jacket is recommended. Comfortable long pants are ideal, especially for the walk on Taquile Island. Choose comfortable walking or trekking shoes with good grip, as some paths on Taquile Island include slopes, stone steps, and uneven surfaces. A sun hat or cap and sunglasses are also highly recommended because sunlight is intense at Lake Titicaca’s altitude.

What to Pack in Your Daypack

Carry a small and comfortable daypack with only the essentials you will need during the tour:

  • Passport or identification
  • Warm jacket or fleece
  • Light waterproof or windproof jacket
  • Sun hat or cap
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen with high SPF
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Personal medication
  • Camera or mobile phone
  • Portable charger or power bank
  • Small amount of cash in Peruvian soles for souvenirs, drinks, tips, or optional purchases
  • Snacks, if you would like something additional during the journey
  • Rain poncho, especially during the rainy season
  • Lip balm and moisturizer, as the high-altitude climate can be dry

Important Recommendation: Because the weather on Lake Titicaca can change quickly, the best approach is to dress in layers and be prepared for sun, wind, cool temperatures, and occasional rain on the same day. Keeping your daypack light will also make the walk on Taquile Island more comfortable.

Changes to the Travel Date

Requests to change the tour date are subject to availability and must be submitted as early as possible. Changes cannot be guaranteed once services with local suppliers have already been confirmed. Any additional cost resulting from a requested date change will be communicated to the traveler before the modification is completed.
