Reservation and Confirmation
Your reservation is confirmed once Machu Picchu Team receives the required passenger information and payment and verifies the necessary services for your selected departure date.
Passenger Information
Travelers must provide accurate personal information, including full name, identification details, contact information, and any relevant dietary or medical requirements.
Payment
The required booking payment and any remaining balance must be completed according to the conditions shown in your reservation confirmation.
Cancellations and Refunds
Cancellation requests must be submitted directly to Machu Picchu Team. Any refund will depend on the cancellation date and the costs already paid for transportation, accommodation, entrance fees, local suppliers, or other non-refundable services.
Date Changes
Changes to the travel date are subject to availability. Additional charges may apply if services have already been confirmed or if the new departure has a different operating cost.
Shared and Private Tours
The tour may operate as a shared or private service. Shared tours combine travelers in the same 4×4 vehicle, while private tours are organized exclusively for your group.
Accommodation
The tour includes accommodation according to the confirmed package. Lodges in remote Altiplano areas may offer basic facilities, with limited hot water, electricity, Wi-Fi, heating, or private bathrooms.
Meals
Only meals specifically listed in the tour inclusions are provided. Dietary requirements should be communicated in advance.
Entrance Fees
Only entrance fees specifically listed as included are covered. Travelers should carry cash in Bolivian bolivianos for additional entrances and personal expenses.
Weather and Route Changes
Weather, flooding, road conditions, snow, strikes, or safety considerations may require adjustments to the itinerary. During the rainy season, access to certain areas of the Salar de Uyuni, including Isla Incahuasi, may be restricted.
Wildlife and Natural Conditions
Flamingos and other wildlife are observed in their natural habitat, so sightings cannot be guaranteed. The famous mirror effect on the salt flats also depends entirely on weather and water conditions.
High Altitude
The expedition reaches very high elevations, with some areas approaching 5,000 meters above sea level. Travelers should be properly acclimatized and in suitable physical condition.
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is not included. We strongly recommend coverage for high-altitude travel, medical emergencies, evacuation, cancellations, and transportation disruptions.
Personal Belongings
Travelers are responsible for passports, money, cameras, electronics, luggage, and other personal belongings throughout the expedition.
Safety
All travelers must follow the instructions of the driver-guide, local guides, and protected-area personnel, especially around geysers, lagoons, remote roads, and other potentially hazardous areas.
No-Show and Late Arrival
Travelers must arrive at the confirmed meeting point on time. Missed departures caused by late arrival or no-show may be non-refundable.
Return to Uyuni
The estimated return time on Day 3 is approximate and may vary due to weather, road conditions, traffic, or operational circumstances. Avoid scheduling tight onward connections immediately after the tour.

1. Is the 3-day Uyuni tour better than the 1-day tour?
For travelers with sufficient time, the 3-day tour provides a much more complete experience. A one-day tour mainly focuses on the Salar de Uyuni, while the three-day expedition continues into the Altiplano to visit lagoons, deserts, geothermal areas, wildlife habitats, and the Eduardo Avaroa region.
2. Where does the tour start and finish?
The standard itinerary begins and ends in Uyuni, Bolivia. Alternative arrangements toward the Chilean border may be possible depending on the final service selected.
3. How difficult is the tour?
The tour involves relatively little strenuous hiking, but the high altitude, cold temperatures, and long periods of 4×4 travel can make the expedition physically demanding for some travelers.
4. What is the highest altitude reached?
Some sections of the southwest Bolivia route reach close to 5,000 meters above sea level, particularly around geothermal areas. Travelers should acclimatize appropriately before the trip.
5. Can I see the mirror effect on the Salar de Uyuni?
The famous mirror effect occurs when a thin layer of water covers sections of the salt flats. It depends entirely on rainfall and surface conditions and therefore cannot be guaranteed for any particular date.
6. Can I visit Isla Incahuasi throughout the year?
Access depends on the condition of the salar. During periods of deeper water, some routes across the salt flats may be modified and access to certain areas may be restricted.
7. Will I see flamingos?
Flamingos inhabit several high-altitude lagoons along the route, but they are wild animals. The number and location of birds vary according to season and natural conditions.
8. What type of accommodation is included?
The standard route generally includes simple accommodation suitable for remote desert and high-altitude conditions. Facilities may be basic, particularly on the second night.
9. Is travel insurance necessary?
It is strongly recommended because the route travels through very remote areas at high altitude. Your insurance should ideally include emergency medical assistance and evacuation.
10. How far in advance should I book?
