EXCELLENT Based on 1240 reviews Posted on Google Pientje PluisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We joined the tour last minute and are so glad we did! Ronny was a fantastic tour guide who went out of his way to organise so much for us. Because we booked last minute we didn’t have Machu Picchu tickets included, but Ronny was very helpful in organising a way for us to get them in the end. I would recommend the tour to everyone, I made some really good memories!Posted on Google Colby McClaughertyTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Good experience, sick views, cool time.Posted on Google Sam SydenhamTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ronny was my tour guide, he was very helpful, funny and helped me learn spanish across the tour. One of the best 4 days of my life !Posted on Google Helene MüllerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We did the Salkantay trek with Rony and couldn’t be happier! When I had foot trouble, he organized a horse so I could keep going on the second hiking day. On day three, he arranged a private car and lunch for us so we could skip ahead to Aguas Calientes to still get tickets for Machu Picchu, plus sorted our train back. He was incredibly caring and attentive the whole way, and shared great insights on Inca history too. Highly recommend Rony to anyone doing this trek!Posted on Google Mikel EtxaizTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Ronni nos hizo disfrutar del Salkantay trek gracias a sus explicaciones y su buen rollo. Tambien se tomo la molestia de traducir lo que decia ya que en el grupo la mayoria hablaba otro idioma. Muy recomendable hacer este tipo de rutas con el!Posted on Google Sonya KanTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Roni was fantastic! Would recommend this tour and him as a guidePosted on Google Eashana AroraTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Rony was a great tour guide! Roni is the best guide! Lots of history and logistics were clear. This was an unforgettable experiencePosted on Google SaschaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a great time doing the Salkantay trek with Machu Picchu Team! Alexis (Nachito!) took the best care of us. During the first night I got food poisoning from food from the night before in Cusco, and he really helped me through in a responsible way with his encouraging words and good care. Alexis is truly passionate about what he does! He told us lots about the nature, different plants and the Inca culture! The group of 10 was wonderful and the vibes were great! Nacho blended in perfectly with lots of humor. The food on the way was wonderful and plenty thanks to our cook Braulito. Everything was very well organised and taken care of during the trip. Would recommend!Posted on Google Lola GUETTATrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Le rapport qualité/ prix est imbattable, go for Machu picchu team !!Verified by TrustindexTrustindex verified badge is the Universal Symbol of Trust. Contact UsThe Inca Jungle Trail is a 4-day adventure combo that mixes downhill mountain biking, white-water rafting, zip-lining, jungle trekking, and a final short hike to Machu Picchu. Unlike the Classic Inca Trail (which is pure hiking and requires permits months in advance), the Jungle version has no daily limit on participants, offers more adrenaline activities, and is perfect for thrill-seekers who want variety instead of just trekking.
It’s moderately challenging — great for active people but not extreme. The biking is mostly downhill (easy on the legs), rafting is class III-IV (fun but splashy), zip-lining is thrilling yet safe, and the final trek to Machu Picchu is about 8-10 km uphill but shorter than classic trails. Basic fitness is enough; no prior experience required for most activities. If you can bike or hike a few hours, you’re good!
The dry season (May to October) is ideal — sunny days, less rain, and perfect conditions for biking, rafting, and clear views at Machu Picchu. Shoulder months like April, May, September, and October have fewer crowds and great weather. Avoid January–March if you hate rain, though the jungle is lush then!
Essentials: quick-dry clothes, swimwear (for rafting and hot springs), comfortable biking shorts or pants, lightweight rain jacket, sturdy sneakers or trekking shoes, sunscreen, hat, reusable water bottle, insect repellent, small daypack, and layers (Andes mornings are cold, jungle afternoons hot). Most tours provide bikes, helmets, life jackets, and zip-line gear — just bring your energy!
Yes, very safe with professional guides, quality equipment, and insurance usually included. Altitude starts high (biking from ~4,300m) but drops quickly into the jungle, so acute mountain sickness is rare compared to other treks. Drink coca tea, stay hydrated, and take it easy the first day. Most people feel great by day 2 in the warmer lower elevations.
