ANDEAN JOURNEY: FROM CUSCO TO AGUAS CALIENTES VIA OLLANTAYTAMBO
Embark on an unforgettable journey starting with a 10:00 AM pickup from your hotel. Begin your adventure with a comfortable and scenic 1 hour and 45-minute transfer to the historic Ollantaytambo train station, where you’ll experience the beauty of the Sacred Valley along the way. At 12:55 PM, board the train to Aguas Calientes and enjoy a relaxing 1.5-hour ride through stunning landscapes, passing lush valleys, rivers, and the majestic Andean mountains.
Upon arriving in Aguas Calientes, check in at your comfortable hotel, where you’ll have some time to relax and soak in the peaceful atmosphere of this charming town, nestled at the foot of Machu Picchu.
Later, at around 7:00 PM, meet with your knowledgeable guide for an informative briefing, where you’ll discuss the exciting details of the next day’s adventure to the awe-inspiring Machu Picchu. This is your opportunity to get all your questions answered and prepare for an unforgettable experience.
EXPLORING THE LOST CITY: MACHU PICCHU TO CUSCO VIA AGUAS CALIENTES
On the second day, you’ll have the chance to experience the breathtaking sunrise over Machu Picchu, weather permitting, and enjoy the site with fewer visitors. Begin your day with an early 5:00 AM breakfast at your hotel, then take a 30-minute bus ride from Aguas Calientes to the main entrance of Machu Picchu. The gates open at 6:00 AM, and once inside, you’ll meet your guide for a 2.5-hour guided tour, immersing yourself in the fascinating history and significance of this iconic Inca citadel.
After the tour, you can choose to hike Wayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain for a unique perspective of the site. Remember, these climbs require tickets, so be sure to book them well in advance. If you prefer, you can also spend more time exploring the site on your own before taking the bus back down to Aguas Calientes for some leisure time in the town.
Later, board the train at either 2:30 PM or 2:55 PM for a 1.5-hour ride back to Ollantaytambo, where a private car will be waiting to transport you back to Cusco. You’ll be dropped off at your hotel, wrapping up this unforgettable journey.
