This week I had the opportunity of doing the 5 day Salkantay Trek with Machu Picchu Team. It was my first multi day trek and because of them, I had the best possible experience.
To start, I have to say the quality of the tour exceeded all of my expectations. Our guide, Alexis (best known as Nachito) was the most attentive guide I ever had. He was funny, knowledgeable about the trek and Inka history and went above and beyond to make sure everyone in the group felt good and had fun. He made our experience 100% better and became part of the group and a friend during the trek.
The food was incredible, homemade, authentic Peruvian food for every single meal with options for everyone. The staff was respectful and amazing, the accommodations were pretty good too, definitely better than I expected.
I couldn’t have asked for a company to go on this trek with, and I’m already hoping to come back to Peru so I can go on different tours with them.

My fiancée and I did the Salkantay Trek 5D/4N with Machu Picchu Team. The entire trek was wonderfully organised, with excellent support, good locations to stay the night and great food throughout. As well as some really great additional activities. We were very grateful to our fantastic guide Frank Omar. From the morning tea service, to the encouragement along the way, to the interesting information about Inca culture Omar really made this trek what it was. We would certainly recommend Machu Picchu Team to anyone wanting to do the Salkantay Trek!
De salkantay trek met macchu picchu team was geweldig. Omar was een heel fijne gids die veel uitlegde en rekening hield met de groep. Zeker een aanrader, tip boek op tijd om je macchu picchu tickets te garanderen.
I completed the 5D/4N Salkantay as a solo traveller but left the trip with friends and memories I’ll remember forever.
Nachito (Alexis) was our guide and he’s the best guide I’ve ever experienced. He made us feel like a family from making us do introductions, and then having handshakes, chants and nicknames for throughout the trip - we were all taken care of.
He helped me significantly on the last day while as I struggled and kept me motivated to make it, without him I would have given up a lot earlier. He was so knowledgeable about everything along the trek, he knew when to stop to let us have a break, he was on point with how many minutes / km were left until our pit stops etc. and I hate to admit it but he’s really funny 😁
Big shout out to the chefs on the trip, everything was delicious and a great balance on what we needed to fuel our bodies.
Hot springs and zip line were an added bonus of the trip too !! It was great to do something different other than trek, I would say it’s so worth doing the 5 days just to do these activities.
Would 100% recommend Machu Picchu team to anybody who is looking, the value of what I received over the 5 days was beyond the price - especially given other companies try charge almost double for the same experience.

Did the Salkantay trek with Carlos and he was a solid guide. Relaxed, friendly, and kept a good pace throughout. We hadn't sorted our Machu Picchu tickets in advance and he helped us adjust the trek so we could still get them in time. Really appreciated the flexibility and problem-solving.
