Great experience with Machu Picchu tours. Everything was so wonderfully organised and our tour guide, Billy, made things extra fun. Would recommend to anyone wanting to do the Salkantay Trek!

We did the 5 days, 4 nights Salkantay with our amazing guides Max and Victor. Along the way they told us about the environment, culture and history. The atmosphere was very good. It was an great experience and we would definitely recommend this trip to other adventurous travellers!

Our Salkantay trek wouldn't have been the same without Frank. Despite joining us on short notice, he jumped in with incredible energy and a genuine passion for the mountains. He has a rare combination of a walking encyclopedia and is a total blast to hang out with. He was constantly looking out for everyone's well-being, showing a level of care that went far beyond his 'job description.' Frank, you are a true professional and a wonderful human being. We’re so grateful to call you a friend!

We did the 3 day 2 night Salkantay Trek. Had a really great experience. Our tour guide, Ronny, helped us through the tougher parts of the hike and made the whole trek much more enjoyable. Very knowledgeable too!

Simple advice for anyone planning Machu Picchu: do the Salkantay Trek, book with Machu Picchu Team, and ask for Frank. You won’t regret it.
For anyone put off by a handful of negative reviews from early 2026 - that situation was outside the company’s control and, crucially, had nothing to do with the guides, horsemen and chefs who make these treks what they are. What I can speak to is a company that was responsive and supportive throughout - queries answered within hours via WhatsApp, often much faster.
On the trek itself, Frank was exceptional. His knowledge of Incan culture is deep and his enthusiasm for it is genuinely contagious. He’s patient and attentive on the trail, always making sure nobody felt rushed or left behind (poco a poco, as Frank would say to us). But what sets him apart is that he clearly cares about the experience beyond just doing his job well - he arranged several thoughtful extras for our group entirely off his own back. Most impressively, despite having walked this route countless times, his excitement never felt routine. That energy is rare, and it makes a real difference.
An outstanding guide and a trek we won’t forget.

Our 4 day salkantay trek to Machu Picchu was magic, The views, the food, and the service were all incredible. Our guide Ronnie was the best guide I've had in my 5 months traveling Latin America.
He made the experience so immersive by explaining to us Inca culture and historys, even a ceremony on the Salkantay pass, highly recommended.

He is truely an local, and gave us wide information us about everything.

There is also some critic to the company and management of it;
- Group sizes are little bit too big (the space is very tight at dinner / lunch tables), same with the bus rides
- Also sometimes we weren’t sure which guide is doing the whole tour with us and the guides were changing (as there were group of 4d3n tour aswell) Luckily we had Owen with us till the end
- the company somehow managed NOT to get our machu picchu tickets (which they already confirmed 2months before the trip to us) (worst thing could happen) luckily we managed to get them from Agua Calientes with help of Owen
- the bus ride from Hidroelectrica back to Cusco was horrible (7hr trip in very tight and hot bus) just pay extra for the train

That was an amazing experience, I did the Salkantay Trek with Owen, that was really interesting, and a good experience, thanks to him.

Wir haben den Salkantrey Trek mit Owen gemacht und er war ein super Guide :)! Wir hatten super viel Spaß, trotz schlechter Wetterverhältnisse. Die erste Unterkunft könnte aber etwas besser sein, besonders die Sanitären Anlangen.
