*OVERCHARGED £277*

Myself and my wife did the four day Salkantay Trek with Machu Picchu Team in May 2026. The tour and the experience itself was great, HOWEVER we were absolutely ripped off and overcharged £277!

We paid half the balance (£227) when we booked in February, and then had to pay the remaining balance (£255) when we arrived in Cusco. We were encouraged to pay for hiking poles (£11 each), so we decided to get one pair of poles between us and therefore added the £11 to the balance we owed. They mistakenly charged us £277 (the balance plus another £22 for 2 sets of poles), but we only wanted one set of poles - so we asked for a refund and then paid again. However, I never received the refund and therefore I paid the full balance twice (£542 instead of £265!).

I got in touch with them via WhatsApp to explain the situation and request my money back - but 6 weeks later and the issue still hasn't been resolved. All they say is 'we're reviewing this and will come back to you', but they never will.

To avoid hidden charges / dodgy transactions, I'd recommend booking through Machu Picchu Reservations instead - my friends reported that they'd had a much better experience.

First of all, I want to thank Frank Omar. He was an outstanding guide from start to finish. His knowledge, professionalism, and positive attitude made the entire experience even better. No matter the challenge, he was always there to help, answer questions, and make sure everyone felt safe and comfortable.

A huge thanks as well to Jesus for the delicious food throughout the trip.

Even though the trek was challenging at times, we loved every second of it. The incredible scenery, great organization, and the amazing people made it an unforgettable experience.

10/10… I would highly recommend this tour. Thank you for giving us memories that will last a lifetime!

Our 2-day Inca Trail experience was absolutely amazing and one of the highlights of our trip to Peru. Machu Picchu was breathtaking, and our guide Genrri was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole journey unforgettable. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Peru.

Had an incredible time on the 5-day Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu!

Our guide Hans truly made the experience. Breaks along the way were well spaced and his explanations about the cultural histories of the landscapes we trekked through were insightful and educational. Plus, he always explained the logistics of each day in a way which was clear and thorough.

Everything about the trek was seriously well organised and thought through.

The kitchen staff, led by Juan del Diablo, were amazing with accommodating vegetarian and gluten free dietary requirements. The extra effort they made was clear in how they adapted traditional Peruvian dishes and provided variety day to day. Loved the popcorn and hot chocolate on the second night.

The cowboys, including Michel, were highly professional in transporting and caring for our belongings. After each day of hiking our overnight duffel bags would already be at our accommodation waiting for us, always dry and as we’d left them.

Also thanks to Marco, the guide of the group trekking alongside us, for his help on the second day when I didn’t feel well.

Had the most incredible week on the Salkantay trek. Our tour guide Owen made the whole trip very special and taught us so much about Inca culture and history. I would 100% recommend Owen as a tour guide.

The Salkantay Trek was an incredible experience and truly some of the best days of my life. The culture, the breathtaking views, and the amazing food all exceeded my expectations.

His energy and leadership helped turn our group into a happy, supportive family, creating friendships and memories that I'll never forget.

We had the best experience ever! Our guide, Owen, took care of our group throughout the entire trek and turned our team into a family. It was challenging at times, but Owen helped us through it! The best 5 days of my life!!! From the views, the food, the people and guide it was honestly the best thing ever. I could not recommend this company enough, I had the best experiences. One of my favourite parts was when our guide owen showed us all of his culture including an offering. We got to leave our bad energy in the mountains and I feel like a new person. It would not have been the same experience without Owen, please request him if you can. He brings the most amazing vibes and made the trip so unique. He was so helpful, calming and positive.It would not have been the same without him. PLEASE BOOK!!

We did the 4-day Salkantay tour and loved every moment of it. The landscapes and sleeping spots were amazing, and everything was well organised. A really special thanks to our guide José, who made the tour even better with his stories, jokes and great energy. Would definitely recommend!
