My partner and I just completed the 5D/4N Salkantay Trek with Machu Picchu Team and had an incredible experience from start to finish. There are many great trekking companies to choose from, but considering the value, service, and overall experience that Machu Picchu Team provides, you really don't need to look any further.
Throughout the trek, we stayed in sky domes for two nights, a beautiful triangular hut for one night, and finished in a hostel in Aguas Calientes. The first night was especially spectacular, with breathtaking views of Mt. Salkantay and the opportunity to sleep under the stars. As a couple, we had our own private room or hut each night, which was a wonderful bonus. Every accommodation was clean, comfortable, and exceeded our expectations. The zip-lining experience and the hot springs were also major highlights of the trek.
Our guide, Juancho, made the entire trip unforgettable. He was professional, knowledgeable, and always checked in on everyone throughout the hike. He taught us so much about the region, its people, and its history, which added so much depth to the experience.
The trip also would not have been possible without the rest of the incredible team. The office staff were extremely helpful with our booking and provided great information about Cusco and the Sacred Valley before we arrived. Yoel, our chef, prepared outstanding meals every day, and our horseman, Walter, was always smiling and positive, rain or shine. Everyone involved was friendly, hardworking, and genuinely cared about making the trek special. Everything was exceptionally well organized.
We would highly recommend Machu Picchu Team to anyone considering the Salkantay Trek. It was truly one of the highlights of our time in Peru.
