We had the most incredible experience on the 4-day, 3-night Salkantay Trek, and that is largely thanks to our amazing guides, Marco Antonio and Elisban.

From the very start, they were unbelievably warm, friendly, and welcoming, instantly putting everyone at ease and creating such a fun, relaxed group atmosphere. Their knowledge of the trek, the mountains, and the local culture was so impressive, and they shared it in a way that was engaging and easy to understand.

What really made the experience special was how much they genuinely cared. They were constantly checking in, supporting everyone through the tougher moments, and making sure we were all enjoying ourselves. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble.

One of the most memorable parts was how they introduced us to the entire team behind the trek — the chefs and the man who carried all our belongings with the horses. It was such a thoughtful touch and made us truly appreciate the hard work that goes into making the trek possible. It made the whole experience feel much more personal and meaningful.

By the end of the trek, Marco Antonio and Elisban didn’t just feel like guides — they felt like friends. We laughed so much, learned so much, and honestly had the best time.

We couldn’t recommend them more highly. If you’re lucky enough to have them as your guides, you’re in for an unforgettable experience.

I did the 5 days salkantay trek with Miguel as guider and it was amazing. Everything was well organized, the food was great, met some really great people along the way and we had super thoughtful staff.

My friend and I just got back from the 5 day Salkantay Trek with Machu Picchu Team and had the most incredible time. The company are experienced and know how to take care of you: accommodation was great, food was plentiful, and the guides very knowledgeable and fun (shoutout Alexis!). I’d definitely recommend especially for backpackers, as it’s definitely one of the more affordable tours and brings in lots of others travellers!

I finished the 4 day Salkantay Track some days ago. The track itself was great, though the different tour operators may walk all along the same path. But what made it truly special were our guides Marco Antonio and Elisban, who were giving us all the information about the Peruvian culture and nature. Also, safety instructions were clear and fun on the tour was also very important. The team behind is also to mention, who did a great job in preparing the great food and bringing our stuff from A to B. I really enjoyed it!

A little disappointed by the service. We had to be a group of 6/7 we ended up at 17. 1 st day very good hiking, we arrive in a campsite no shower (by the way no big deal when we do trecks we are used to) on the other hand very simple sleeping. We were in aunts not at all airtight we got very cold. Breakfast not phew....meal lunch and evening well. 2nd day super hike, here we arrive in another campsite more than mediocre. This time sanitary and shower but in a state of unsanitary nameless, even my husband had trouble going to the toilet .....when we had met young people who were traveling without guide and who paid half as much as us and very clean. 3 rd day after 10 km the guide decides to continue by car because some people say they don’t want to walk when we question each other we realize that everyone is unhappy and wanted to walk. There we arrive for lunch rather frustrated ... fortunately it was very good. The group splits in two, we go in the direction matchu pitccu so we walk 12 km... with a second guide very well. And the next day ascent of the matchu pitccu. Unforgettable.
In fact if you have a watch and you do not leave in high season, I advise you to do without a guide. Many people do it without. That way you do what you want and you won't be disappointed.

Absolutely loved the trek and would highly recommend macchu Picchu team! Felt extremely well looked after throughout, the accomodation was nice and clean, good sleeping bags and the food was amazing! Thank you to our guide, Alexis, who was very informative throughout and kept the group motivated!

10/10 - highly recommend this company. We had the best time on the 5D4N Salkatay hike to Machu Pichu. Our guides, max and franko were incredible! They were so knowledgeable and helpful - nothing was too big of an ask. The food and the accommodation was also brilliant. We were fed really well and the accommodations were awesome with incredible views and comfortable camping style stays. We had an awesome group and felt like a family by the end of it. Thank you max and franko for the best trip ever!

The organisation of the trek in general was good too. We had an amazing kitchen team who cooked the most delicious Peruvian dishes for us. Transport from Hidroelectrica to Cusco was chaotic, but we finally arrived.
