An incredible experience of the Salkantay Trek (5 days) with our guide Edgar and Machu Picchu Team.
A detailed program, a clear and precise organization, excellent cuisine, a warm and friendly atmosphere as well as breathtaking landscapes.
We were a group of 10 people which allowed us to have an excellent value for money on each of the activities and transport.
An adventure that I highly recommend to nature lovers looking for challenge and life experience!

Prior to the trip, the former CEO emailed stating the company was bankrupt, cancelling tours and promising refunds, yet we received only a partial refund and evasive communication. They claimed tickets had been purchased but never provided copies, then withheld train tickets when we visited their office in Cusco. We paid twice and are still owed money — avoid this company.

I did the Salkantay Trek 4 day route. I had the best time. Carlos was my guide and had the best time. He was very attentetive and caring of the group. his team of cooks were fantastic and we had no complaints. thank you Carlos!

My daughter and I completed the Salkantay 5 Day Trek.today. The initial communication via the Machu Picchu Team office was very good. Our guide ‘Zugar’ and his entire team made this a trip to remember forever - the food was always varied and fresh, the accommodation was very good, the trekking was challenging but rewarding and every day was different. Nothing was an inconvenience for Zugar during the trek no matter how big or small your needs and he made every day a happy experience. And if something didn’t quite go to plan (eg: avalanche blocking the road) Zugar always had a plan B to get us where we needed to be.
Great job Machu Picchu Team.

A week that will live long in the memory!

Isolated, the visit to Machu Picchu alone would be worth it with Amoroso as an expert guide. But you’d be hard pushed to find a favourite day out of the 5 on the salkantay trip!

I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have shared this journey with a group that I would now call friends. Diverse in background/country/age, it’s a testament to Amoroso who managed and at times rallied all to ensure it was a collective achievement. He also committed enough time to get to know everyone individually (on the first day with names - which goes a long way). Sharing his wealth of knowledge and wisdom, not only over this trek (he knows like the back of his hand) but also in life. I strongly believe that the trip would not have been half the success without his experience, laughter and guidance.

I was skeptical about the difficulty of this hike and whether I would be able to complete. I had thought maybe that the distance could have been spread out but upon completion and reflection, amoroso and the Machu Picchu team have this spot on. I would admit that the dreaded days 2 and 4 were not even that taxing.

Accommodations were as shown and you’re going to find that the air will get through but I slept like a baby all 4 nights. Food was fine enough given the labour the labour the chef would have to put in and having it moved daily - I would maybe ask for more eggs in the morning but that’s just me.

An overall unforgettable experience that ended too quickly and I’ll certainly be recommending the Machu Picchu team and Amoroso to anyone that will listen!

Incredible 5 days on the Salkantay Trek to Macchu Picchu! The nature and views are out of this world. The hike itself is fairly challenging, but it's worth the effort.

What really made the trip was tour guide Zugar and his crew! He always brought massive positive energy to get us through the early starts, gave insight on the Incan history, language and culture, and kept us informed about the trip each day.

The food by Abelardo and Alfredo was Michelin quality traditional Peruvian cuisine (or at least tasted it like it after a long day hiking), and the rest of the crew like Florentino did a great job as well.

It's worth doing Macchu Picchu mountain on the last day. It's a tough climb especially at the end, but the views are amazing and you can rest afterwards.

Tips: bring layers because the weather is changeable, have plenty of snacks to keep you energized, and stop worrying about the altitude just go for it!

I just got back from the 5D Salkantay Trek with Machu Picchu Team and it was truly one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever had. From start to finish, everything exceeded my expectations.

A huge part of what made this trip so special was our guide, Zugar. He was incredibly patient, kind, and understanding, especially when plans needed to shift or when people in the group were moving at different paces. I came into the trek with some anxiety about the altitude and difficulty, but Zugar made me feel totally safe and encouraged me to go at a pace that worked for me without judgement. He managed to be professional and knowledgeable, as well as fun and warm. I genuinely feel so lucky to have had him as our guide.

The entire team behind the scenes was amazing. The horsemen Florentino and his partner were essential to lighten the loads on our backs. And the cooks Abelardo and Alfredo made food that was far beyond anything I expected on a trek. After a long day of hiking, arriving at the campsite to an abundance of delicious and fresh food was so appreciated. They offered loads of options and catered to the vegetarians in our group, as well as to those who were lactose-free or had other dietary restrictions.

I also appreciated the structure of the trek. It was well-organized and well-paced, with enough downtime to rest, take in the scenery, and enjoy the experience without feeling rushed.

Our group of 11 itself was wonderful, and we got close as the days passed. The overall atmosphere made the journey even more memorable. I only wish it had been longer.

I did the 5 day salkantay trek, my group was very connected and our guide Zugar made it the best experience ever. The guide was very passionate, strong, trustworthy and a great person. He is part of the reason the experience was so well. The trek was actually not as hard as I expected but it was very tiring and the altitude was rough. The food was great and I’m pretty sure the cooks name was Alfredo. I would 100% choose this company again if I do another trek.
