My girlfriend and I chose the 2-day Salkantay Trek experience with Machu Picchu Team. Our guide was Gabriel, who was very kind, knowledgeable, and attentive. He gave us lots of interesting information and was always happy to answer all our questions.
Even though the weather wasn’t the best, the organization was flawless. The overnight accommodation was truly unique and atmospheric.
I highly recommend this experience with this agency!

We did the 5 days salkantay trek, and we do not have much hiking experience but the track although exhausting, is doable. We would like to say a big thank you to our guide Frank Omar who without him we would still be in the jungle. He was always very helpful to answer all our questions on the track to helping us out with our Machu Pitchu tickets. He was always there. He never rushed us on the trek and we could always walk our own pace. He made this trip very enjoyable and he was always so enthusiastic when we reached the next meeting point, so thank you Frank!

We booked our 4D/3N Jungle Trek to Machu Pichu with Machu Pichu Team and it was fantastic!

The highlight of the trip was our guide Nestor who spoke perfect English, was knowledgeable about everything on the route and wider questions about Peru's history and geography, took plenty of photos of us, and helped us practice our Spanish! He was a blast to hang out with and made our experience special and memorable - thank you!

We booked 9 months in advance and the reservations team secured us the best route around Machu Pichu: circuit 2 at 6am.

We paid $280 pp for Downhill Biking, Rafting, a 15km High Jungle Hike, 2 hours of Ziplining, and entrance to Machu Pichu. All meals and accommodation were included.
We spent an additional $10 pp on entry to the hot springs. I think this was excellent value for the money and all of the activities were fun. The best one for me was the biking! The entire time I felt safe and in good hands with the equipment and our guide Nestor.

The food was tasty and filling and we got to try a variety of typical Peruvian food at local restaurants. I was always satisfied.

The accommodation, however, left a little to be desired: the first night accommodation was extremely hot and it was hard to sleep, the second night was in a cool sky-dome glamping setup but my partner had a much worse sleeping bag and pillow so struggled to sleep, and finally the accommodation in Aguas Calienties (before Machu Pichu) was dirty, we had twin beds instead of a double bed, and there were no windows in our room. None of the accommodation had hot showers. This is one area I'd want to see improving but the overall experience was still 5/5 given the value for money.

Top tip: I would recommend spending the extra dollars to take the return train from Aguas Calientes to Cusco as it only takes 1 hour whilst the coach was 2 hours of walking to Hydroelectrica and 6 hours of driving to Cusco! I don't think this was made clear enough on the website when booking so I would like to see that improved.

Salkantay tour 4-day trek.

You book this tour to see Machu Picchu, but this tour would work without it… Great mix of things to do and places to see. One minute you’re in the mountains the next you’re zip lining through the rainforest (additional cost but worth it).

Staff (Juanjo and Alice) were great, and lots is taken care of for you leaving you with minimal for you to carry a small rucksack.

Excellent experience, I am coming as a tour leader for the fourth time to the Salkantay trek, the best guides in terms of kindness, responsibility, and safety.

A huge thank you to our lovely guide Yuri who was amazing throughout. He really elevated the experience sharing fascinating information about the Peruvian culture and Inca history, and keeping us all upbeat despite the many ridiculously early mornings. The 5 days salkantay trek is such a good blend of challenging and more chilled days and beautiful vistas - highly recommend the trek and Machu Picchu team tours. The food was excellent and accommodation great (although sky domes really are not very private) Go team potatoes!

I did the 5 day Salkantay trek with Yuri and he was nothing short of amazing. He is very passionate about teaching his culture with us and has made the experience memorable. His high spirits really kept me together when I thought I couldn’t finish this trek.

Trip of a lifetime. Juancho Escalante and Eduardo were BEYOND incredible guides. Not only did they make me feel safe with a food allergy, light altitude sickness and on the challenging hike itself, they went above and beyond to share the history of the Incas, their communities and of the land. The trip was absolutely stunning. The tour company was very well organized and guides supported me in obtaining tickets to MP on site, got a guide for MP, and booked a bus ticket back to Cusco. Cannot recommend Juancho enough and this trip. I booked two days before in Cusco and got a great deal also! Thank you so much. -Fiona
