The Salkantay 5 day trek was one of the best trips I’ve ever done and would definitely recommend this trek and this company to others. Our guide Max was the best - knowledgeable, friendly and making sure everyone was included no matter what their pace was. The chef Joel was also great as were the horsemen as our things were at the campsites each night without fail and the food was always great! Every meal was something different so there was lots of variety and there was more than enough for everybody. The accommodations were grand but one night I did wake up to my things (including my socks) quite wet as there had been a leak. Not the end of the world though and I’d still recommend this trip.

I went to Palccoyo rainbow mountains, it was just ok. There was a bit of mess with the pick up, they called me to be ready in 10 min in front of the hotel (10 min before pick up time), then they let me wait for 30 minutes till they actually picked me up. Breakfast was very basic, lunch was better, but I've done several tours and this was the first time there was no hot beverage provided at lunch. The tour guide didn't provide us with much info, the driver was excellent though.

Where do I even begin… what an experience! First of all, our tour guide Owen was phenomenal and took such good care of us! Team PachaOwen 4 Lyfe! We were treated so nicely and everything was laid out so clearly. Honestly an unforgettable experience, made so special with such a good tour company! The food and accommodation were to such a high standard as well! Highly recommend Machu Picchu Team!

I would wholeheartedly recommend Jimmy! He was one of the best guides I’ve ever had. Initially I was unwell and he made the effort to make sure I was okay and also took me to the pharmacy. He also had such a good sense of humour, was highly knowledgeable and was so well prepared. He made the 3 day tour fun , engaging and interesting. Anyone who joins a tour with him will have the best time! I’m even crediting the rainbow we saw at Machu Picchu to him :). He really cares about people and goes the extra mile to make sure people are having fun and get the best experience. Sign up for a tour with Jimmy , I promise you won’t regret it!

Wow! This was absolutely amazing. I did the 5D4N Salkantay Trek with them. I’m not sure if you have heard about the controversy regarding Machu picchu reservations but as far as I understand, there was a dispute between the two CEOs, which used to be a married couple and now one of them started Machu Picchu Team with a lot of the coworkers and they have great experience due to their work with MP reservations. We were quite worried because we heard about cancelations and booking problems, regarding reservations but this was absolutely amazing. From the start really well organized, great accommodations (very authentic and close to nature), amazing food, great people and most of all the best tour guide I ever had, Owen. He was unbelievably enthusiastic, knowledgeable, funny, energy packed, always full of happiness, and a superb leader. I’m not exaggerating, but I feel like I would even wait a few days to have the opportunity to do a tour with Owen. All in all one of the best experiences during my Peru trip. Also met some great people and I have the feeling, that this is more for the younger generation so if you are between 18 and 35 this is the way to go.

Machu Picchu team was the perfect company for me to do the Salkantay trek with! Hans, Erwin, and Jose were amazing guides!! They were super knowledgeable and fun, we never had a boring day. The food was great as well as the accommodation, especially for the price point! I met some really cool people and had an amazing time. I highly recommend going with Machu Picchu teams for any tours around Cusco!

Our guide, Max, was fantastic - he led us on an unforgettable trek. He was kind, knowledgable, accommodating, and always kept us safe despite some of the unpredictable challenges we met en route, like landslides. He also very clearly outlined each day and did well to accommodate the different levels of the group. I especially appreciated the ceremony we had at the top of the Salkantay Pass. He became a real friend to us all on the trip. Equally, our chefs and horsemen were brilliant. They work tirelessly transporting our duffel bags and making sure we’re well fed. The meals were spectacular, I thought. The accommodation was decent. Richard, our guide at Machu Picchu, was also excellent - peru knowledgeable and led an interesting and engaging tour of the ruins. Honestly, it was the trip of a lifetime. An adventure I’ll never forget. The trek is absolutely beautiful.

However, our overall experience was let down by the lack of organisation and responsibility from Machu Picchu teams, which is a shame. Firstly, we booked a couple of months in advance. When they were unable to secure us tickets to Machu Picchu tickets, instead of telling us right away, they told us a week before our trek which was stressful. This meant we had to rush to Aguas Calientes to buy tickets the day before with no guarantee we would get them. As such we had to book an extra night there with free cancellation just in case. On the last day they said there would be a delay in getting our bags to us because of a landslide, however, I took the bus (the same one which should have contained the bags) and they weren’t loaded. We saw them left in Hydroelectrica. Also, when taking the bus from Hydroelectica to Cusco, there wasn’t a landslide in sight. A mistake is a mistake but I didn’t appreciate the company lying to us. They did, however, organise private transport to get them delivered early the next morning which was greatly appreciated.

I’m not a big hiker, and honestly I was a bit hesitant about whether or not I will be able to manage the intensity of this trek. Those few days weren’t easy, but were probably one of the best experiences of my life! The views were so diverse and so incredible, but it’s not all that this journey is. What made it extraordinary was the history, the culture and the stories that were shared by our amazing guides- Abel and Victor. And that’s not all- Abel and Victor always looked after us, made sure we have all we need, made us laugh and pushed us to the top (literally!). It wouldn’t have been such an unforgettable experience without them. Thank you Machu Pichu team and Able and Victor
