I did the salkantay trail and it was amazing.
Our two guides Marco Antonio and Omar really made the trip an unforgetable experience , and made sure that we were always having fun. The trail was incredible with stuning views, i would recomend it, especialy if you have the chance to do it with Omar and Marco Antonio . 10/10 expérience and 10/10 guides ! Marco Antonio and Omar really lit up the trek !

My rating solely reflects the organisation of Machu Picchu Teams itself, otherwise I would be giving 5 stars.

Our guide, Max, was fantastic - he led us on an unforgettable trek. He was kind, knowledgable, accommodating, and always kept us safe despite some of the unpredictable challenges we met en route, like landslides. He also very clearly outlined each day and did well to accommodate the different levels of the group. I especially appreciated the ceremony we had at the top of the Salkantay Pass. He became a real friend to us all on the trip. Equally, our chefs and horsemen were brilliant. They work tirelessly transporting our duffel bags and making sure we’re well fed. The meals were spectacular, I thought. The accommodation was decent. Richard, our guide at Machu Picchu, was also excellent - peru knowledgeable and led an interesting and engaging tour of the ruins. Honestly, it was the trip of a lifetime. An adventure I’ll never forget. The trek is absolutely beautiful.

However, our overall experience was let down by the lack of organisation and responsibility from Machu Picchu teams, which is a shame. Firstly, we booked a couple of months in advance. When they were unable to secure us tickets to Machu Picchu tickets, instead of telling us right away, they told us a week before our trek which was stressful. This meant we had to rush to Aguas Calientes to buy tickets the day before with no guarantee we would get them. As such we had to book an extra night there with free cancellation just in case. On the last day they said there would be a delay in getting our bags to us because of a landslide, however, I took the bus (the same one which should have contained the bags) and they weren’t loaded. We saw them left in Hydroelectrica. Also, when taking the bus from Hydroelectica to Cusco, there wasn’t a landslide in sight. A mistake is a mistake but I didn’t appreciate the company lying to us. They did, however, organise private transport to get them delivered early the next morning which was greatly appreciated.

I’m not a big hiker, and honestly I was a bit hesitant about whether or not I will be able to manage the intensity of this trek. Those few days weren’t easy, but were probably one of the best experiences of my life! The views were so diverse and so incredible, but it’s not all that this journey is. What made it extraordinary was the history, the culture and the stories that were shared by our amazing guides- Abel and Victor. And that’s not all- Abel and Victor always looked after us, made sure we have all we need, made us laugh and pushed us to the top (literally!). It wouldn’t have been such an unforgettable experience without them. Thank you Machu Pichu team and Able and Victor

Thank you to our guide Max for making our Salkantrey trek unique. Max was fantastic from day 1 and took care of the whole group, while he eagerly told the story. The accommodation was very good and even better was the food. Joel made sure we tasted Peru’s best dishes every day.
Without a doubt the best trip we have been on and we have been on a part in South America in the last many months.

I am writing this review on behalf of myself and my partner. We recently completed the 5 day / 4 night Salkantay trek with Marco Antonio and Omar as our guides. StartingFrom the briefing Marco and Omar were very very helpful and kind with all of our questions. They made it clear what to expect during the trek.
Each day of the trek brought different experiences and Marco and Omar were great at explaining lots of different things about the route and the Inka culture, asking any questions we had with no problem.
The food on the trek was also amazing- as a vegan and vegetarian we were totally spoiled with the food provided.
The accomodation was great and the activities too:).

My friend and I hiked the 5 day Salkantay Trek. Our guide, Max, was an absolute professional and has become a great friend throughout the trip. The food was amazing, from mango ceviche to an incredible lomo saltado high up in the mountains. The overnight stays were also excellent. We slept in glass igloos, wooden tents and in a hostel (in Aguas Calientes). Overall had a great experience, made great friends and memories and loved every second.

The only downside was the communication before the trip started. It was minimal and we had plenty of questions that weren’t answered. But eventually everything turned out fine! If you are planning on doing the Salkantay trek, contemplate on booking a train ticket back. It is on the expensive side but worth it due to the bus drive taking almost 7 hours to get back to Cusco.

Max, you were amazing. Spicy sexy chinchillas will always remember this!

Hwt was a fantastic 5 days on the salkenty track with a super group courtesy of abel and mister Victor as guids!

What an adventurous hike. Within 5 days, go through 4 seasons and 10 microclimate zones. Including snow, avalanches, floods and washed-away train tracks. But we were well done everywhere by Abel and Victor and were able to continue our journey. Abel has a profound knowledge of Inca history and orchids. Victor is a really dear soul and woke us up in the morning with Coca tea. A good power bank is recommended for all hikers, as electricity and internet only worked at the end.

Where do I begin! We did the salkantay trek with our guides Victor and Abel and it was seriously the best trip I have ever done! Not only were they informative about the history and landscapes but were so funny and also made sure everyone was always having a good time. 10/10 book this tour!

Absolutely fantastic experience, we will remember this forever. The personal touch by Victor and Abel really made this expedition more than just a hike as they helped us connect with the history and landscape in a unique way. Despite unexpected and severe weather, it felt safe and fun throughout. We are very grateful
